Designers parade HK fashion talent at Tokyo show

Four fashion designers from Hong Kong showcased their design diversity last month on the catwalk in Tokyo at Fashion Hong Kong Month.

The show, at the retail skyscraper complex Shibuya Hikarie, coincided with Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo Spring/Summer 2018 from October 16 to 22, organizer the Hong Kong Trade Development Council said.

Attendees got an up-close look at fashions ranging from Loom Loop's (first picture), eco-initiatives and Chinese folklore motifs with a fancy twist, to Mieking Ng’s cubic art-meets-architectural cut. There was also Harrison Wong's interplay of lines and stripes, and design duo Yi Chan and Lary Cheung's Heaven Please+ (second picture), revisit of inventive visuals and 1990s subculture, the TDC said. The show was supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo.

Apart from the four runway designer brands, 10 other Hong Kong fashion accessory labels were also showcased around Tokyo during Fashion Hong Kong Month.
