Sustainable Fashion Label- Loom Loop
We are beginning to see the fruits of Ecochic’s effort to promote sustainable fashion with the emergence of conscious fashion brands like Loom Loop in Hong Kong. Polly Ho is the co-founder behind her fashion label Loom Loop and unlike other eco-chic labels, they are the only fashion house using Gambiered silk, a special silk that dates back to the the early 15th century which makes is very rare today. As not many factories produce Gambiered silk anymore, each of Loom Loop’s design is unique and limited.
Founders Polly Ho and Hon Pong Wong both come from design backgrounds and have worked in London at Misa Harada Millinery and Robert Cary Williams. When the government announced the PMQ project offering designers low shop rental prices in the heart of Central, the duo jumped on the opportunity to start up a sustainable fashion business in Hong Kong. Since their launch, Loom Loop has grown from strength to strength having debuted at Mercedes Benz Tokyo Fashion in 2015 and at New York Fashion Week this year.
For their SS16 collection, we love how Loom Loop mixes traditional craftsmanship with Canton fabrics and modern designs which results in a bold, sophistication Chinese heritage collection, a perfect harmony of East meets West. This collection features lots of prints from the art deco era with clean lines in pretty soft pastels shades that contrast with black and using Gambiered silk to inject fluidity in tailored pieces.
